I love listening to my kids sharing about their imaginative world, from cookie-eating snowman, sky-diving piglet, to marshmallow rainbow 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣. We received this whimsical “Fairies & Gnomes Finger Puppet Set” from Tara Treasures recently; our creative story-telling sessions have never been that exciting since the day these 7 miniature beings arrived! 

Why I love ❤️ this toy: 

(1) 7 Unique Characters - The details of these 7 colourful characters are simply too charming! We gave each of these enchanting figures a names and built-up a series of “fun-facts” about them. First, we have “Goldy” that resides in the heart of purple orchid - she’s a great seamstress that can magically turn red floral petals into dresses that match perfectly with her French braided hair. “Moody” is that eccentric and grumpy old gnome with wise long beard who spends all day growing potatoes; his faithful and jovial assistant “Greeney” wears a scarf and Phrygian gnome cap made of green olive potion. “Mushroomy” has bright red “super mushroom” hat and enjoys nothing more than gathering toadstools. We also have “Witchy” the cunning fairy with wild hair, “Rapunzy” the pink princess with magical hair that cures all miseries, and “Tiny” the orange fairy that can sing like a nightingale. Each of them have their personalities, uniqueness, and temperaments. You just have to gaze hard enough to “feel” them. Try it! 

(2) Versatile - These are finger puppets that are fun to play with; they are also characters in our various settings, storylines and small world creations. We love posing them on wooden blocks, moving them around with icy pole sticks, and including them in our enchanted world with magical powers and villains. I love how colourful and versatile they are! 

(3) Ethically Handmade- Handmade felt-toys are full of distinctive characters, biodegradable, sustainable, and toxic-free. We are BIG toy lovers and MASSIVE fans of delicious treats. When you combine the two BEST things into one, you get a family of EXCITED people! Tara Treasures is a brand that I have been observing closely for a long time. They have a range of beautiful and original creations that sets themselves apart from other competitors. Today, I’m going to share about this latest favourite: The Pancake Stack Set! 

Why I love ❤️ this toy: 

(1) Realistic - My first impression when I cast my eyes at the three American-styled thick pancakes of three - “Woah, they are SO REAL!” 😱 I am super impressed with the details and realistic touches - the brownish circular marks on both sides, like some real pancakes perfectly “cooked” and “flipped” at the right timing and impeccable temperature of heat. The soft texture gives a terrific light, fluffy feel. These are some mouth-watering stackable hot-cakes that are too enticing to say no to! 

(2) Toppings for Varieties- Of course, like any traditional classic pancakes, the toppings play an important part for their ultimate score! Tara Treasure set comes with a chunk of bright yellow butter, 2 stunningly good-looking strawberries, 2 banana slices, and 3 blueberries for some freshness of flavours. Once again, Tara Treasures dedicated careful thoughts when designing these little “additions” - the banana slices have a little caramelised touch and stitches that give the inner seeds appearance; blueberries have lighter shade of “calyx” at the top, and the strawberries are round and juicy with yellow achenes! The kids love creating their cafe menu and give their pancake varieties funny names. They also love challenging themselves by stacking and decorating the pancakes high and pretty. These are some awesome pretend toys! 

(3) Awesome and Safe Materials- Felt toys are biodegradable, sustainable, toxic-free and eco-friendly. What I love BEST about Tara Treasure is that all its products are designed in Melbourne and ethically hand-felted in Nepal. I love that it supports fair wages for the artisans who work hard behind the scene to produce these amazing products! Determinedu Dino, Blue Felt Brontosaurus, by Dashdu

Behold, the “Thunder Lizard”! Since the day the boy got bitten by the invisible “Dino bugs”, our family has been dragged (either willingly or unwillingly) into the study of “paleontology”: reference books, encyclopaedia, documentaries; one after another, learning the pronunciation of each bewilderingly long names and bone structures of these prehistoric creatures. The Brontosaurus has always been a favourite; they are the “big friendly giant” with long bulky neck and heavy torso, but a kind, plant-loving nature. Dashdu has a series of super-adorable dinosaurs range that melts our heart, and makes us go “ahhh….”. We received this “Determinedu Dino, Blue Felt Brontosaurus” recently from Dashdu for a review, and yes: WE ARE IN LOVE! 

Why I love ❤️ this toy: 

(1) Beautifully-Designed Dinosaur- Dashdu captures the essence and characteristics of this magnificent herbivorous creature beautifully; it is gentle, cuddly, soft, cute, and heart-warming. It has a graceful curvy long neck, glancing backwards with a slightly docile and curious gaze. The whip-like tail extended majestically from its wide strong body. This is a perfect addition to our imaginative play scene and a “hero” in many of our jurassic adventures! Dashdu Brontosaurus comes with a wide array of unique colours, but I am loving this shade of azure blue - mysterious, regal, and determined in a sweet, calm way. By the way, do you know that scientists believe that brontosaurus had a lifespan up to (or even over) 100 years? Spectacular! 

(2) Quality Felt Toys- Felt toys are timeless, classic, and magical. They are biodegradable, light in weight, durable, and non-toxic. Dashdu toys are handmade from 100% pure wool, and can be cleaned using a damp cloth. They are safe, durable toys that can last for a long, long time.

Who would love this: Pretend play + felt toys lovers 

Banana, the crescent-shaped fruit with soft delicious flesh and fun-to-peel skin, goes marvellously with sundae. Throw a few felt bananas to the kids, they would make a magical tale out of them; these fruits are ammunition against monster attack, material for “statue of liberty” in the Kingdom of Banana, and “boomerang” fairies that live in enchanted forest. Thanks Dashdu for providing us this Bentley Banana set for review; they keep our imagination active and we are absolutely loving them! 

Why I love ❤️ this toy: 

(1) Realistic Design- Bentley Banana is a bomb of sweet yellow consists of five banana pieces (5cm diameter each) with realistic-looking black strips, and a matching yellow sorting bowl of 15 cm diameter. The short, curvy and slightly “over-ripe” banana appearance reminds me of the tropical Pisang Raja (the “Banana King”, literally), best used for banana fritters and all sort of South East Asian delicacies. They bring back nostalgia, and I really love how natural they look! Our two year-old spent an afternoon “mixing” the banana pieces in her fruit salad bowl. The cute banana pieces are just the great size for sorting, and the felt texture is so lovely to touch! I love how the set can be easily incorporated into any role-playing or imaginative drama. 

(2) Quality Felt Toys- Felt toys are biodegradable, light in weight, durable, and of heirloom quality. Dashdu toys are handmade from 100% wool. It has that lovely softness, can’t be easily damaged, and can be cleaned using a damp cloth. These are smooth, non-toxic, compostable, eco-friendly toys that would never go out of style!

It’s inspiring to read how Dashdu has worked with highly skilled local artisans in Nepal to produce various range of heart-warming felt toys that capture the hearts of kids and adults.
