Amazing Animal Alphabet puzzle, By George Luck - REVIEW

Nature/ Type:          Wooden animals & alphabet learning puzzle

Rating:                     ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:  6 year-old ++

Who would love this: Vintage wooden puzzle collectors / and kids that love a puzzle challenge

George Luck puzzles are wooden jigsaw with touch of wizard’s magic, sprinkled with fairy dusts, complete with vintage beauty. The “Amazing Animal Alphabet puzzle” is a love at first sight, one of the most magnetically enchanting wooden puzzles I have ever seen.

Why I love ❤️ this toy:

(1) Beautiful Design & Connection - I love the unique spiral-shape, the meticulously designed and cut animal pieces that connect beautifully with each other, forming a circular wooden board of multicolour and surprises. I can only imagine that multiple trials and errors, the creative thought process, and precision of craftsmanship devoted into the production of this masterpiece. The jagged and slightly protruded alligator’s scutes were placed right next to the “zigzag” fury part of the lion’s legs; the whale’s tail with indentation fits nicely next to the outline of the monkey’s chin and its joints. The animals are abstract in style, each painted with mainly a single colour, simple and circular in form.

(2) 26 Animals + Letters - This is an alphabetical puzzle, with 26 pieces representing animals each starting with a different letter. We have “B” for bear, “I” for Ibex, and “X” for X-ray fish etc. The wooden base is engraved with 26 letters from A to Z in both uppercase and lowercase at different locations, marking the allocated space for each of the corresponding puzzle pieces. I love the wide selection of animals representing continents from around the globe: we have Panda from China, umbrellabirds of the central and South America, kangaroos from Australia, giraffe from East Africa, and raccoon from the North America. Our kids love solving the puzzle with little hints and clues from the parents, whilst learning about the new animals along the way. I love how innovative, whimsical, and educational this puzzle is!

(3) Material & Quality - George Luck puzzles are made of sustainably sourced timber, with child-safe, non-toxic and water based finishes. They are aesthetically pleasing and done with beautiful craftsmanship. They are timeless collectibles that will be loved and treasured from one generation to the next.

We need more of such beautiful things in life!

I love whimsical, clever, vintage-looking wooden puzzles. This African Animals Puzzle from the George Luck range is a real eye-catcher and I’m absolutely loving its interesting mix of colours!

Why I love ❤️ it:

(1) Double Layer Puzzles - There is some enchanting magic in double-layer puzzles; I love the hidden surprises, unexpected objects and the elevated challenge incorporated in a single, cleverly-designed puzzle board. This African Animals Puzzle features two-layered of wooden jigsaw puzzle of various safari animals in their natural habitat - the watering hole, vast savannah, thickness of trees and bushes. I like how we can unveil the top layer to reveal another set of animals hidden underneath. There is a total of 38 pieces that fit beautifully into the smartly created wooden base. The puzzle is challenging for young kids, but possible to be done by a five-year-old with a little patience and practice. This puzzle is fun, innovative, and educational!

(2) Colourful Animals Theme - I love the colourful African animals theme! Who can resist the charm and uniqueness of giraffe, lion, flamingo, hippopotamus, elephant and owl! I love the meticulously designed and cut animal pieces that connect beautifully with each other and the surroundings. The precision of craftsmanship is impressive and the quality is top-notch!

Modern Tractor, By George Luck - REVIEW

Nature/ Type:          Beautiful wooden puzzle with vintage feel

Rating:                     ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:  3 year-old ++

Who would love this: Collectors of vintage wooden puzzles

Our local library has a range of George Luck puzzles, each of them is enchanting in its own special and inimitable way. Today, I would love to share about this vintage, hard-to-find puzzle “Modern Tractor” - another quietly charming George Luck collection that will never go out of style!

Why I love ❤️ this puzzle:

(1) Simple Farm Tractor Puzzle - Compared to most other more complex George Luck puzzles that I have seen, this Modern Tractor is a relatively “basic” one and probably of an easier-level suitable for younger kids. This is a beautiful single-layer puzzle with 21 separate pieces and completes with a wooden base. I love the George Luck’s signature “random” cut design, with each piece being individually unique and different in shapes. There are some “obvious” pieces that the kids can immediately recognise, such as the front wheel, larger back wheel, the long and slightly-curvy exhaust stack, the green hood, a flying white duck, farmer and his faithful dog. The kids took around 10 minutes (or less) to complete the puzzle, and they are happy to redo it over and over! This puzzle is engaging and entertaining, and everyone loves the uniquely crafted pieces.

(2) Colours + Craftmanship - We love how careful and meticulous the craftsmanship is, including those little details such as the intentional uneven cut to show the thread pattern of the tyres. We enjoyed watching the vibrantly colourful pieces coming together on the smartly crafted base, forming an aesthetically pleasing picture of a farm tractor! The puzzle pieces are light-weight, brightly-painted, impressively cut with smoothness on edges, and connect and fit so perfectly with each other!

(3) Materials - George Luck puzzles are made of sustainably sourced and FSC-certified timber, with child-safe, non-toxic, water based finishes, and is in compliant with international safety. I love how vintage looking the puzzle is. George Luck puzzles are true timeless collectibles that will be loved and treasured from one generation to the next.
