Fluffy Valley, By LOKI - REVIEW

Nature/ Type:            Board game for kids

Rating:                       ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:   6 year-old ++

Who would love this: Young board-gamers, especially those that enjoy cooperative games!

LOKI makes spectacularly CUTE board games - complete with amazing artwork, creative use of game box, and incredibly adorable components. Thank you VR Distribution for providing Fluffy Valley - this is officially our latest most-demanded board game by the kids!

Why I love ❤️ this game:

(1) Cooperative Game - Mission To Get Ready For Winter!

We love a game with an important “mission” to accomplish! Fluffy Valley is a cooperative game where our little people work together in a team, helping a colony of hardworking prairie dogs to get their burrow ready for the harsh cold winter. The aim is to gather sufficient resources and fill-out the reserve (honey, berry, hay); but be warned: you have only 9 rounds to do that before winter kicks in (the season board is keeping tracked of it). In the process, you will meet weasels, foxes, badgers, and eagles - trying to sabotage and hinder our resources-collection progress by taking prairie dogs away from work, stealing resources, and blocking the holes.

(2) Interesting Decision-Making & Strategic Options

lt’s GREAT to see a board game for young kids equips with interesting decision-making options. In each round, we move the prairie dog figurines into other unoccupied holes face-down; each of the hole brings different special effects - draws a shrub token (and get either a ripe berry or a spoiled one), get a hay token, take a chance with Tunnel token, exchange a hay for a beaver upgrade, take an action twice using the River’s power, remove a weasel by seeking help from Piper the Viper, exchange spoiled berries with Roger the Hedgehog, or slide a resource token into the burrow. The actions are complex, but also comes naturally once we start playing with it. I love the fun strategy in a game full of choices and chance!

(3) Awesome Components & Ingeniuos Game Box Conversion

Loki is a true expert in converting a seemingly ordinary-looking game box into part of the game. Place the Prairie board on top of the plastic inserts, and the box will instantly transform into an adorable game setting with harvest table, token slot with slide to the burrow, holes with special effects - oh and I just can’t resist the cuteness of the prairie dog figurines, peeking out from the holes with their cheekiest, playful look!

Kraken Attack, by LOKI - REVIEW

Nature/ Type:          Family board game

Rating:                     ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:  7 year-old ++

Who would love this: Kids who love board games - especially one with COOL pirate theme & strategy elements

Oh the JOY whenever we discovered a fabulous board game that makes us want to do a celebratory dance! Kraken Attack by LOKI checks ✅ all the boxes of what our family loves! Thank you VR Distribution - another amazing recommendation!

Why I love ❤️ this game:

(1) Board Game With A BIG Mission - Defend Your Ship Against Kraken Attack!

I love a game with “important” mission that makes us feel like we’re part of a BIG adventure. Our crew of little buccaneers work together to defend their ship against the tentacles and Kraken monster! First, position the pirates at 4 quadrants of the ship, each guarded by two ship’s rails. Throughout the game, players roll the dice and watch the 8 tentacle figures moved closer to the ship, ready to tear away the wall and slam a hole to the ship. But fear NOT, our pirates are all gear-up for a battle; On each turn, players choose one of two face-up cards that allows them to launch a mixture of attacks (saber, pistol, cannon, wild) or repair a hole. “Funny face” on a card angers the Kraken and causes the aggressive creature to move closer towards the ship, until it eventually unleashes its full wrath and makes its way to the ship board. This will bring the dice total to six! The game ends when the ship suffers damage of 4 holes, or when players manage to place 3 attack tokens on the Kraken figurine.

(2) Cooperative Game With A Mix Of Skills & Chance

I love that this is a cooperative game that excites both kids and adults. There is a good mixture of luck (eg if you roll a dice with “eye” icon, every tentacles of matching colour move forward) AND strategy (players to decide which mode of attack to use and in what sequence). We love the “special abilities” of each pirate - for example, Samuel can ignore the unlucky “Eye” icon on the dice, Billy can fire a Cannon and push back all tentacles in Cannon zone on the same side of board etc. We also love elevating the challenge with “Whirlpool” tokens that can send the Tentacles and Kraken quicker to the ship.

(3) Awesome Components, COOL Artwork, & Amazing Storage Box

The components and the storage box are awesome! The tentacles are whimsical, the Kraken is pure glorious, the ship’s rails are sturdy and fun, the wooden pirate tokens are adorable. I love the quality and the engaging artworks!

Detective Charlie, By LOKI - REVIEW

Nature/ Type:          Mystery-solving games for young kids

Rating:                     ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age: 7 year-old ++

Who would love this: All aspiring, future Sherlock Holmes/ kids that love deduction games & mystery-solving

I’m a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie, and all intriguing detective stories that keep me up all night. I LOVE the Escape Room concept, but there are not many games of such genre in the market that target younger kids as audience. I am so happy to receive “Detective Charlie” by LOKI from VR Distribution - we’re loving this refreshing detective experience for kids!

Why I love ❤️ this game:

(1) A Game With 6 Light-Hearted Mysteries To Be Solved By Kids

Detective Charlie is a mystery-solving game with adorable storyline for the right audience. Included in this game are 6 light-hearted, not-too-serious mysteries occurring in Mysterville, waiting to be investigated by Detective Charlie and his young helpers! Each of the 6 “mystery” packs includes an introduction of the case, 8 witness / evidence cards, 8 suspect cards, and a separately sealed brown envelope containing the identity of the culprit. Kids work together to solve the mystery of the missing chocolate bars, nameless parcel, slippery market, and other strange happenings in town. Kids throw a dice, “interview” witnesses, analyse the clues, eliminate the suspects, and race against the “clock” to identify the culprit. The idea is fresh, original, and allows kids a chance to practice deduction skills to crack a case!

(2) A Game With Age-Appropriate Clues For The Little Sherlock

I love that the clues tailor perfectly for the intended audience; you don’t need to put on your adult’s hat to over-analyse them. A witness might provide an alibi for another suspect, or produce an incomplete clue such as a torn piece of card or a photograph. Some of the clues are straightforward, some need to be paired together to form a conclusion. Once you have done solving the 6 cases, you can donate the game away to the next lucky little Sherlock, or revisit the mysteries again after a lapse of time.

(3) Game With Outstanding Components & Visual Presentation

I am impressed with the presentation of the game; I love that the box has slots that can hold 8 suspect cards vertically around it; I love the adorable detective notebook, the cute artworks with animal characters, the smart-looking cat detective, the insert that hold the components neatly in place in the box. This game is for all aspiring, future Sherlock Holmes!

Carla Caramel, By LOKI - REVIEW

Nature/ Type:          Ice-cream theme, cooperative game

Rating:                     ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:  4 year-old ++

Who would love this: Kids who love sweet treats and board games with a cool theme

Carla Caramel from LOKI has just become the most in-demand game in our family; ice cream with 4 flavour bombs, eye-catching vendor stall set-up, a relatable theme that resonates dearly with the “sweet tooth” clan. Carla Caramel has EVERYTHING irresistible to kids and adults. Thank you VR Distribution , this game is fantastic!

Why I love ❤️ this game:

(1) Exciting Ice Cream Theme - We LOVE the ice cream theme with clear objective; this game captures the hearts of both my kids (4 and 7 year-old). First, set up the ice cream stand with the Sun token placed at the left-most space on the canopy. Players take turn to roll the special chunky dice - add a scoop of ice cream on a selected cone if you roll a “flavour”, move the sun one space to the right if you get the “Sun”, and serve an ice-cream cone to a kid waiting in queue if the dice shows a “Kid”. The goal is to race against the “Sun” to serve all 5 kids with the most “completed” and marvellous-looking ice-cream (preferably with 3 scoops on each cone!). But beware, the “Sun” melts an ice cream for good when it moves onto the canopy space facing a cone with 3 scoops. The game ends when you get 5 happy kids with their delicious treats, OR when 2 out of the 6 ice cream are melted by the Sun. Players then count the final score of the game based on the number of scoops served, and receive their “medal” of the day (“Popsicle” medal for the lowest score, and “Master Scooper” medal for the team with 18 to 20 points).

(2) Cooperative + Strategy Game - It was GREAT fun watching the kids discussing passionately, trying to agree to the BEST strategy to win. They figure out plans to accumulate more points and to avoid melted ice-cream, and decide together whether a “risk” is worth taking (e.g should we pass a turn when we roll a “Kid”, and try to get more scoops up on the cones?).

(3) Stunning & Quality Game Components - I LOVE the innovative and visually-appealing presentation of this game; I love how the ordinary box can be cleverly transformed into an exciting 3D ice-cream stand with partitioned “tubs” of ice cream. I also love the wooden “ice cream” scoop in crescent shape, wooden dice, the sturdy cardboard cones, and the adorable graphics.
