“Periodic Table” used to bring back my school-day nightmares… never in a million years did I think I’d be hooked on exploring the mysterious 118 chemical elements 😆 But Best Learning i-Poster: My Periodic Table is simply unreal!

Why I love ❤️ it: 

(1) Learn 118 Chemical Elements With A Smart Talking Poster

In short: this is a TALKING poster where you simply point to a button to learn. There are 3 mode buttons. “Element Name” mode — learn the element’s name, symbol, atomic number, and mass. For example, press on iron and it tells you it’s a chemical element with the symbol Fe, atomic no. 26, atomic mass 55.845. “Element Group” mode — eg press “Group 5” and it explains these are transition metals — thick, strong, and not easy to melt. “Elements Fun Facts” — my personal favourite! We learned that mercury is the only metal liquid at room temperature, and gold and copper are the only two metals that aren’t gray in their natural form. Mind blown! 

(2) Periodic Song- Learn The Basics & Fun Facts With A Catchy Tune

The BEST feature — the Periodic Table Song button! Such a catchy way to learn the basics. “The universe is made from atoms, and elements are things made of just one kind…” It gives a fun rundown of common elements and their uses — aluminum for planes, chlorine for swimming pools, helium for balloons. It even teaches how to read the table: left to right, hydrogen first, going down the row they get heavier by number.

(3) Three Quiz Modes + Hints Provided When You Got It Wrong

THREE quiz modes to match the learning modes! Level 1: Find an element by basic info — e.g. “Find the element with atomic mass 145.” Level 2: Group challenge — “Which group does Oganesson belong to?” Level 3: Fun fact detective — e.g. “Which element looks silver and shiny and is used to coat objects to prevent rust?” (Answer: nickel!) I love the gentle hints when you get it wrong! 

(4) Huge & Colourful Poster - Hang It On Wall / Lay It On Table

It’s HUGE! Lay it on a table or hang it on the wall. There’s a guide explaining atomic number, discovery year, symbol, plus neutron, proton & electron relationships. Each element shows if it’s solid, liquid (blue mark), gas (white mark), radioactive (neon green) etc. Bottom left explains group colours — eg dark blue (e.g. lithium) are alkali metals (soft & reactive). In short: this is a talking poster where you simply point to a body part to learn. The set comes with one electronic base “Body” poster plus three magnetically clip-on posters, and I really appreciate that 3 AAA batteries are included. To use it: press the big round Start button, then the Go button so it can identify the poster you’re using. From there, press any body part to learn more. For example, tap “Cerebellum” on the yellow Organs poster and you’ll learn it’s the brain region responsible for motor control - coordinating posture, balance, and movement. Press “Legs”, and it explains they’re weight-bearing structures (including the thigh, foot, and hip) and then dives into their functions: standing, walking, jumping, running, kicking, dancing. I love the age-appropriate details provided! 

(2) 4 Interchangeable Posters - Body, Organs, Bones, Muscles

It includes four interchangeable posters: Body, Organs, Bones, and Muscles. The Body poster acts as the magnetic base, with embedded corners that securely hold the others. Once you press Go, the poster is automatically detected. The Body poster is perfect for preschoolers, covering basics like hair, ear, neck, shoulder, and knee. Ready for more challenge? JiuFen is one of my favourite places on earth that left a lasting impression on me. I’m grateful for the chance to  review this JiuFen Old Street Book Nook by Anavrin . 

Why I love ❤️ it 

(1) Realistic & Exquisite Details Of JiuFen Old Street

The set includes plywood sheets with 593 precisely-cut pieces and an instruction booklet in English. I had an amazing time building this masterpiece with my 8-year-old. We thoroughly enjoyed the DIY project, from gluing and connecting the pieces to adding the finishing touches. We couldn’t stop admiring the realistic and exquisite details, including the winding alleyways, sloped staircases, oriental roof tiles, quaint red lanterns, and antique teahouses with Japanese-influenced architecture. The full-bloom cherry blossoms were a beautiful touch. The meticulous craftsmanship is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, and the overall layout perfectly captures the essence of this enchanting town in Taiwan. 

(2) Beautiful LED Lights With Warm & Cozy Feel

The LED lights are seamlessly integrated into the night scene of the captivating alleyway. I love the warm, cozy miniature bulbs carefully hidden within the red lanterns and the strips of LED lights that emit from beneath the roof tiles of the old-style buildings along the ridge. The lights are pre-connected to a cleverly concealed battery holder underneath the structure, complete with a switch for easy operation. The set also includes a transparent glass piece to fit at the top of the book nook and a blue reflective mirror at the back, enhancing the depth of the scenery.

(3) Well-Constructed & Detailed Booklet + Extra Pieces

The booklet is detailed and well-constructed, featuring clearly marked numbers for the parts. Although there were minor discrepancies where some reference numbers didn’t match the actual pieces, we were able to locate all the correct parts without much difficulty. I also appreciate the thoughtfully included extra pieces for the smaller components, which came in handy on a few occasions when we accidentally broke some parts.

(4) Anavrin's Cat Figure For Extra Layer Of Storytelling!

We love the Anavrin’s cat figure, Chubbs, which can be freely positioned within the book nook. It adds a cheeky personal touch and brings an extra layer of storytelling to the scene.

Why I love ❤️ it: 

(1) DIY Kit - Build The Coolest Game Console! 

BIT is designed for kids aged 7 and up. It comes with everything needed to build a game console - acrylic casings, PCB, battery holder, plastic bolts, standoffs, metal screws, push-button caps, 3 AA batteries, and a USB-C cable. I love the detailed BIT Build Guide which features photographs for each step. The quality of the components is excellent, and the finished product feels sturdy. I enjoy the tactile feel of the buttons and their satisfying ‘click’ sound. The kit also includes a lanyard for attaching to the console, a screwdriver, and even a comic book! Plus, there are additional pieces to build a three-tier plastic shelf to hold the console and its add-ons.

We are BIG fans of its Super Slide, Super Blocks, Smart Four - and we now have a new FAVOURITE added to the list: Smart Sudoku - specially for the number enthusiasts! 

Why I love ❤️ this game: 

(1) 3D-Version Sudoku in 6X6 or 4X4 Grid

The gameplay is similar to traditional Sudoku, save that it is designed in a grid of 6x6 and 4x4, instead of the standard 9x9 format. The set comes with 3D number pieces from number 1 to 6 (6 each), and a battery-operated game board. First, select a challenge. Set up the board according to the layout shown on the LED display screen. Now, solve the puzzle by filling out the rest of the cells using the remaining number tiles so that each row, column and section contains all the digits from 1 to 6 without repetition. Each time when we place a number in an empty cell and selected the correct corresponding number indicator, the main screen displays a checkmark (or a cross if we make an error). We love the celebratory animation of lights and audio tune when we successfully completed a challenge. I also love how the screen would tell us the time we took to solve the puzzle. I love how we can quickly convert the 6x6 sudoku into a 4x4 format by simply sliding the clear cover into the board. 

(2) Classic Game With Smart-Technology Twist 

Using smart technology, GiiKER brings many exciting features that were impossible to be done using traditional method. First, we can do “head to head battle” by pairing up with another Smart Sudoku device. There is also a “hint function” that would give clues about position and number solution. We can also activate mute setting, change level settings (L1 to L5 for 6x6 sudoku), and skip / select a challenge. My favourite part? This smart device contains a massive number of 2500 challenges! 

(3) Innovative Gadget With Colourful Components 

I love the chunky and colourful number tiles (younger kids can play with it using colours as guide). I love the travel easy board with clear lid locking everything securely within. This is an innovative gadget that would provide hours of screen-feee fun for all ages!

I love watching the kids playing silly games, especially when it is a game involves numerous active movements, a clucking chicken, and endless laughter. 🤣 Thank you VR Distribution for recommending this energetic game called “Hurry Up Chicken Butt” by Exploding Kittens. 

Why I love ❤️ this game: 

(1) A Cute Little Action-Packed Game For Little People 

This game is action-packed! To set up, each player gets a nest card. Pick a card respectively from the blue (Go Around Everyone), green (Do It 5 Times), and purple (Show Off) decks. Each of the card will determine the actions to be performed by the players, depending on the colour reveals by the dice. There is also a pink “Chicken Butt” card (which is to be placed somewhere outside the playing area - a player is required to run and touch the card when it get a “pink” dice). Now, start the clucking chicken timer, shake it, and perform the required action based on the colour the dice lands (“rainbow” means player can perform any action, and “yellow” means roll again). Next, pass the clucking timer and place it on another player’s nest. The next player will likewise rush to get all actions done, before the chicken starts squawking noisily (which means the game ends and the last player that completed all tasks is the winner!). Our kids adore this game and have loads of giggling time rubbing belly, waddling like penguin, hopping on 1 foot, shouting out imaginary word - whilst trying their best to beat the chicken timer! This game is fast-paced, hilarious, unpredictable (everyone has an equal chance to win). 

(2) Chicken Timer That Clucks And Makes Sound 

The chicken timer is battery operated (you need 2xAAA cells - not included in the set). It makes funny and intense clucking sound that really sets the “urgent” mood, and I love that the dice is securely locked within the transparent chicken lid. I think this game will do marvellous magic in a party environment for kids around 4 year-old (but probably not so much for kids of 7 year-old or more). 

(3) Super Adorable Artwork & Instructions For Kids 

The artwork is adorable - each card has a cute yellow baby chick (still in its “egg nappy”) performing the required action. I also love the separate instructions written for grown-ups and for the kids.

Incorporating technology into classic games is a little controversial, and sometimes, risky. Do it wrongly, you destroy the nostalgic love of our childhood memory. BUT, do it correctly, it’s a retro game reimagined that can potentially elevate the experience to a whole new exciting level. One thing about GiiKER, it seems to have always got it RIGHT. I can’t wait to tell you about this GiiKER game that I deeply LOVE - “Smart Four”! 

Why I love ❤️ this game: 

(1) Reinvented Version Of The Classic Connect Four - And This One Is COOL! 

“Smart Four” is a new take of the traditional game “Connect Four”. Remember the classic two-player strategy game that usually comes with a vertical board fixed upright, where each player takes turn to drop a ball or a disc into a column and aims to get 4 in a row to win? I adore the classic, but admittedly, the original game has its limitations and is somewhat, repetitive. Here comes Smart Four - a reinvented version of the classic. Included is a battery-operated white board in a 5x5 cubic grid marked with 25 circle buttons in colours, and 64 game pieces (32 black, 32 white). The BIGGEST twist in Smart Four: you get to link the “4 in a row” in any direction - vertically, horizontally, diagonally, upwards, or in ascending steps. Yes, in Smart Four, you get to stack your pieces on top of another, up to 5 levels high! 

(2) Play "Head To Head" OR Use "Robot Mode" 

You can play this with another player “head to head”, whilst having Smart Four records your moves and acts as an integrated referee (the winner gets a little celebratory blinking “light show” indicating where the 4 pieces connect in a row). If you can’t find a player? Fear not! Choose “robot mode” (easy, medium, or hard) and play against the AI opponent. When it’s the AI’s turn to place a piece, the triangular indicators would light-up with specific colour to notify us where to place a piece on behalf of the robot. 

(3) A Technology-Driven Game With Smart Features! 

With technology, it means we get to enjoy various smart features. The player indicator tells you which party needs to take a move. The lights blink 3 times when you make an invalid move, and you get a light signal when someone wins. I love the sturdy, chunky and light weight game components. Awesome game!

Seriously, I can’t choose which I love more: GiiKER Super Slide or Super Blocks? Both of them have an irresistible retro feel, and offer so much more beyond the limited features of traditional, physical games. Today, I am going to share about our latest ultimate favourite - Giiker Super Blocks! 

Why I love ❤️ this game: 

(1) A Device With Over 1000 Puzzles Included! 

This is a packing puzzle that isn’t constrained by the fixed shape of a physical game board. Included within are 16 blocks of different shapes, 4 each in 4 colours (red, green, yellow, blue). To start the game, switch on the device by pressing the red power button; the indicator at the upper left area would display the coloured blocks that a player would need to complete a challenge. Next, position the blocks to cover the illuminated areas on the board. The BEST part? There are a total of 1000 (!) challenges, starting from the easy “single colour” challenge, to the more  daunting level involving multi-coloured blocks. I love that it is technology-driven, but screen-free; it’s a smart electronic gadget, but retains an old-school Nintendo look. This game will provide hours of fun, to all ages, for many years to come! 

(2) Technology-Driven Puzzle Game With Smart & Innovative Features  

Super Blocks has many innovative and smart features, such as “Learn Mode” (a helpful step-by-step guide of a puzzle when you are stuck); a “challenge timer” (race against the time to complete a puzzle). We can also skip a challenge, mute the sound, and enjoy the celebratory flash of lights when we successfully completed a challenge. The feature that I love the most: when you place a block correctly, the lights underneath will flash once to confirm; but if you place it wrongly, the lights underneath will flash continuously. How cool is that? 

(3) Solid Puzzle Blocks With Pegs For Easy Handling 

I love the design of the solid blocks, each with at least one longer pegs to make the blocks easy to be removed from the board. They snap onto the board securely, and I love the holes design that allows LED light to shine through. 

(4) Portable Game Board Of Handheld Size 

I love the portable handheld size of the game board. I especially love the drawstring carrying bag that makes travelling with this game (together with all its components) a breeze!

Avatar RC Deluxe Banshee, Zing Toys - REVIEW

It’s not an everyday thing that we get to test out impressive cool drones with cutting-edge features. I was NERVOUS like a child meeting Santa when I received this Avatar RC Deluxe Banshee from Zing Toys. Equipped with “integrated bionics, aerodynamics, and precision machinery technology” - this toy provides loads of incredible fun! 

Why I love ❤️ this toy: 

(1) Realistic & Bird-Like Flying Movement - How can anyone resist this gorgeous, dragon-like banshee from the visually-stunning Avatar? What captured me immediately is the realistic and rapid wings-flapping movement. It feels natural, bird-like, amazingly real. It replicates the flying motion of a bird - it soars through the air in perfect straight-line, circles gracefully, makes a U-turn in beautiful agility, maintains its altitude (with either height limit mode or free-to-play mode), elegantly avoids obstacles with its 6-axis sensor, and can travel up to 200ft away. I love the complex azure blue appearance and intricate patterns that uniquely belongs to this majestic creature from Pandora. 

(2) Easy To Control - I was genuinely surprised when I saw my six-year-old gently tossed and controlled the movement of the banshee with such ease. I didn’t expect to see so many thrilling tricks, all within the command of a few buttons - speed adjustment of flapping-wings, roaring sound-effect, changing of directions, “emergency” landing, and many other manoeuvres. The greatest thing is - we get to run around outdoor (yes, exercise!), chasing the banshee and picking it up from wherever it landed. 

(3) Light Weight & Durable - The Banshee is light-weight, with slightly pliable frame for the wings, adjustable tail (for manual speed adjustment), and kite-like soft fabric feature to withstand multiple “crashing” or any aggressive play. Our flying practices involve many uncontrolled downward-divings, and we can testify the durability of this toy. 

(4) Rechargeable Batteries - Included within are 2 lithium batteries, USB charger, remote-control, and a mini screwdriver. I love that the Banshee battery is rechargeable (fully recharge within 20 minutes) and provides around 10 minutes of flight time each time. I also love the minimalist cardboard box.

Monopoly Super Electronic Banking, by Hasbro - REVIEW

Who would love this: Probably adult players that hate counting / handling cash transactions 

Monopoly is a timeless game - never gets old nor out-of-style. We recently tested out this “Monopoly Super Electronic Banking” by Hasbro - there are things that we love, things I’m not too sure about, and things that we don’t quite like. 

Let’s start with why I love ❤️ this game: 

(1) Electronic Banking Unit - The most prominent feature in this game is the all-in-one banking unit that replaces all physical paper cash. The innovative banking unit keeps track of the money transactions, cash balances, and land title owners. For players that hate dealing with cash transactions and the hassle of paper cash, this technology version is an awesome improvement! However, if you are playing with young kids (like us), the digital reader takes away the counting and money-units learning elements, which are so essential in classic Monopoly! 

(2) Matching Bank Cards With "Special Rewards" - The game also incorporates some unique rules and excitements. Each of the 4 tokens is paired with a matching bank card associated with its “special rewards”: the Yellow Car token can earn $50 when the player rolls a “6”; Blue Airplane has “Frequent Flyer” privilege that allows the player to “travel” for free (saving $100 each time). The white Super Safer earns $50 each time when the player lands on “Chance”, and player with the Red Bag token receives $50 each time when it becomes the first buyer of a colour group. Our family loves this feature! 

(3) Other New Rules - I also love the “flight mode” rule of this game that allows players to travel (and purchase) any unowned property on the board. There is also a new “forced trade” mode where a player can compel another to exchange a title deed. Auction, get out of jail payment, and bonus rewards (when “Go” is passed) are all done using the digital unit. 

(4) Shorter Game - The board is much smaller (32 rather than 40 spaces), and the game ends when the last remaining lot is purchased - hence making this version a much quicker (under 30 minutes) game. 

Overall, this version has some good features but is probably more suitable for adult players. For family with young kids like ours, we prefer the original version with paper cash and physical “properties”.

Robot Q, By Apitor - REVIEW

It’s no secret that we LOVE construction and STEM engineering toys. So imagine our excitement when Apitor sent us this intelligent Robot Q set! This toy is full of delightful surprises, and there are so much more to explore, discover and create! 

Why I love ❤️ this toy: 

(1) Building Bricks With Technical Functions - The package includes 233 building blocks, guide, and control module linked to infrared sensor and colour sensor. We love the bricks with special and technical purposes, such as beams with circular holes that can be securely held together with axles of different lengths and attachable with gears/ wheels. The result is numerous models that look advanced, complex, and COOL! We love the building process, clearly-labelled illustrative guide, and the level-suitability of this toy for a six-year-old. I’m impressed with the strength of the interconnecting pieces, and I love that they are compatible with most major building blocks - meaning, more potential for expansion! 

(2) Control Module + Apitor Kit App - I love the battery-powered control module with studs at the top and holes at both sides, completes with infrared and colour sensors. The magic created by the combination of building bricks and mechanical motor is simply incredible! We can remotely control our built models using the smart “Apitor Kit” App connected via Bluetooth. Our racing car zooms in all directions, the spinning top launcher rotates in furious speed, and the rocking boat swings to and fro like a childhood ride in amusement park. I love the “Gyroscope Control” setting where we can “direct” our robot movement by simply tilting our smartphone or tablet forward, backward, to the left or right. There is also sensor technology and coding programme which we haven’t tested out yet, and we can’t wait to learn more. 

(3) 20 Models - The App provides building instructions of 20 models - gorilla, tower crane, basketball machine, seasaw, elevator and more, each with their unique features and moving mechanism. 

(4) Great Storage Box - I love the storage box with compartments, which is pretty handy for organising the bricks during the assembling process.
