We love toys incorporating knowledge of science, technology, physics, crafts, and everything awe-inspiring. When I saw Funyards Australia and its solar-powered DIY kits, I knew instantly these are toys I MUST review, write and share about one day! I’m truly grateful to Funyards Australia for providing a range of products to me for review. Today, I’m going to talk about this Solar Powered Windmill Farm kit - educational, thrilling, and the end result is just too mesmerising to watch! 

Why I love ❤️ this toy: 

(1) Craft + STEM- I love the combination of craft and STEM education into one! The set contains 4 wooden sheets with removable laser-cut plywood pieces that can be perfectly fitted together into a artistically-designed windmill. What makes this set particularly COOL is the use of solar-powered motor as a critical source to rotate the vertical windmill. I love the simple device that demonstrates the physics of transformation from light energy to electrical energy, in a visual and exciting way! We observed and distinguished the wonders between manual spinning, wind power, and solar power. This is a fantastic teaching tool that engages kids (and science-loving adults) profoundly! 

(2) Step-by-Step Guide- I love the illustrative step-by-step guide. They are easy to comprehend even by a six-year-old, but challenging enough to keep an adult interested throughout. None of us in this family is great at craft; it took this mumma and our 6-year-old 1.5 hours to complete the built, and we made numerous mistakes here and there 🤣 eg we fixed our moving blades facing the “wrong” direction, and we couldn’t quite get the solar panel secured properly with the included glue. Despite these DIY hiccups, we are extremely proud of our achievement! I am impressed with the structural integrity of the windmill. The pieces fit well, the building stands well, the blades spin smoothly, the quality looks great. This is a beautiful decorative item and desk model with meticulous and thoughtful details. 

(3) Flat-Pack- I love that the set comes in a compact flat-pack box made of recyclable cardboard - it is light weight, sustainable, and makes an elegant gift.
