Sight Words Level Two, By Colourful Learning Toy Store - REVIEW

Nature/ Type:          Sight words learning kit

Rating:                     ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:  4 year-old ++

Who would love this: Parents who are searching for a simple and outcome-focused words-learning kit

We started using Sight Words Level One from Colourful Learning Toy Store over a year ago (I wrote a review on that last year). At that time, our boy disliked reading independently and found the activity daunting in general. How time has changed! These days, reading is a joy. The boy has since moved on to “Sight Words Level Two” and completed the additional 100 words! We would love to share about this learning material with you today.

Why I love ❤️ it:

(1) Worksheets + Flash Cards - I love that we get to set our own learning pace based on progress. The set comes with 10 worksheets/ sight word boards, 200 flash cards, a progress chart, and a marker pen. Nothing too fancy, no electronic device is required. Just a simple, outcome-focused learning resource to help kids get familiar with “sight words”. Similar to “Level One” set (which introduced kids to the first 100 most-frequently used sight words in the English language), the “Level Two” set focuses on the next 100 popular sight words, grouped in 10 words each and printed on 10 individual boards (in 10 different colours). It includes easy words such as “OK”, “by”, “boy”, “food”, “why”, “new”; and the slightly longer words such as “suddenly”, “something”, “everyone”, “another”, and (our favourite) “birthday”. The words are large in size, printed in lower-case, in universal form, and are easy to read. The worksheets are perfect to be pasted on wall for daily revision.

(2) Learn Through Games - I love how “Sight Words” encourages us to learn through play! The 200 flash cards (2 x 100 sight words) can be used in various suggested games: we can play Bingo with them (using the Sight Word Boards as Bingo boards), play a classic memory game (matching a pair), do a spelling challenge (with 3-seconds memory rule), or “Beat the Clock” and test out how many words a kid can read within a set-time. Our favourite is “Make a Sentence” game using a few flash cards at once! It was real fun!

(3) Reusable + Wipeable Worksheets - I love that it comes with a marker pen, and the worksheets are wipeable/ reusable - which is pretty awesome for repeated tracing and writing practice.

(4) Organised Storage Box - I love the sturdy storage box that keeps everything neat and organised.
