Little People, BIG DREAMS Double-Sided Puzzle, By Kaddo - REVIEW

Nature / Type:             Jigsaw puzzle

Rating:                        ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:     5 year-old ++

Who would love this:  Kids and adults that enjoy quick & simple jigsaw puzzles

Discover the world of extraordinary individuals with the “Little People, BIG DREAMS Double-Sided Puzzle” from Kaddo, an imprint from Quarto. This puzzle brings to life two powerful images inspired by the bestselling book series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vergara -  perfect way to spark curiosity about the world around our little people!

Why I love ❤️ it:

(1) 100-Piece, Double-Sided Puzzle

This 100-piece, double-sided puzzle offers double the fun with two scenes in one! On one side, set against a purple background, you’ll see history’s favorite figures as children, while the yellow side shows them as adults, living their dreams and reaching their full potential. It’s a perfect mix of puzzling and edutainment!

(2) Featuring Iconic Moments of Historical Figures In Action

I love how the illustrations capture the distinctive features and iconic moments of these historical figures in action. For example, Bruce Lee is mid-flying kick; Anna Pavlova is elegantly performing The Dying Swan in her classic white tutu; Gloria Steinem, the voice of feminism, is seated with the famous ‘We Shall Overcome’ sign; Mahatma Gandhi is depicted with his signature round glasses, surrounded by white doves symbolizing peace.

(3) 28-Page Booklet - Brief Introduction of 32 Figures

The puzzle also comes with a 28-page booklet that not only shows the completed images of both sides but also offers a brief introduction to each of the 32 figures. As you piece the puzzle together, you’ll read about remarkable individuals like Florence Nightingale, who transformed a filthy hospital and saved countless lives during a devastating war; Helen Keller, who overcame the challenges of being both deaf and blind to become a powerful advocate for the rights of disabled people; and Marie Curie, whose groundbreaking scientific discoveries earned her two Nobel Prizes and continue to help those suffering from illness today. No dream is too big when you start with courage and determination!

(4) Sturdy Cardboard Box & Green Paper Bag To Keep Things Organized

The puzzle comes with a green paper bag to keep all the pieces neatly organized, along with a sturdy cardboard box to store everything. The chunky pieces are perfect for little hands. Once completed, the puzzle measures 12 x 18 inches—a great size that fits comfortably on most table surfaces.

no.minoes, By Tranquil Learning Collective - REVIEW

Nature / Type:             Maths learning resources

Rating:                        ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:    5 year-old ++

Who would love this:  Parents looking for creative maths / multiplication learning resources

I love when educational resources blend fun and learning seamlessly. We recently tried out the no.minoes from Tranquil Learning Collective, and I’m truly impressed. These dominoes are some of the most beautifully crafted resources I’ve ever seen. They make learning feel less like a task and more like a visual delight!

Why I love ❤️ it:

(1) Multiplication Game With 28 Laser-Cut Dominoes

This set includes 28 laser-cut dominoes that will really put your multiplication skills to the test! Each rectangular tile follows the classic domino format, with a line dividing it into two squares. One side features a multiplication equation or question, while the other offers a visual representation of the problem — large circles or groups, each containing equal number of smaller dots to illustrate the concept of multiplication. The challenge is to match the end of one domino to the corresponding equation or visual on another. It’s a clever, hands-on way to reinforce multiplication! My 5-year-old quickly understood the logic (counting the larger groups and smaller dots, then linking them to the equation) and had a blast matching up the tiles.

(2) Self-Checking Feature - Form A Circular Chain When Paired Correctly

What I love about these tiles is the self-checking feature: when paired correctly, the dominoes form a continuous circular chain, connecting the last tile back to the first. It’s such a satisfying and intuitive way to ensure accuracy. I also appreciate how versatile these tiles are for reinforcing key math concepts. By physically manipulating the dominoes, kids get to engage with the material in a hands-on way. Whether played as a group game, a competitive challenge between pairs, or independently as a timed speed challenge, these tiles offer endless opportunities for learning and fun!

(3) Designed in Australia - High Quality & Vibrant Colours

I’m captivated by the vibrant colours and the tactile, slightly raised surface of each tile. The edges, numbers, and visual groups are clear and semi-translucent, creating a stunning effect when the tiles catch the sunlight. Designed and crafted in Australia, these dominoes are solid, high-quality, and built to last through countless play sessions. The tiles come in a beautiful cardboard gift box, making storage both practical and elegant

The Magic Labyrinth, By Drei Magier - REVIEW

Nature / Type:             Board game

Rating:                        ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:     6 year-old ++

Who would love this:  Kids who love maze/ labyrinth + memory games

The Magic Labyrinth by Drei Magier brilliantly brings the concept of a tabletop maze to life, creating a truly immersive experience without relying on video-game graphics or elaborate features. My kids and I were immediately hooked, playing round after round! Thank you Let's Play Games for a copy!

Why I love ❤️ this game:

(1) Maze With Invisible Walls - A Super Cool Memory Game

You play as young wizards navigating an invisible maze to collect magical tokens—first to 5 wins! The game cleverly teaches cause and effect, as kids learn from trial and error while avoiding obstacles. The setup is simple yet brilliant: players arrange wooden barriers under the board, spin it to scramble the maze’s orientation, and place magnetized wizards on each corner with a metal ball attached underside. As you move, hitting an invisible wall sends the ball rolling back, forcing you to remember which paths to avoid next turn. We laughed when we advanced, only to groan in delight when hearing the characteristic plunk of the falling ball!

(2) Easy To Adjust Levels Of Difficulty + Lucky Elements For Unpredictability

After each round, simply lift the board, rearrange the hidden walls, and start fresh with a new challenge! I love how the difficulty can be adjusted by removing wall pieces, offering a perfect balance for players of all ages. The walls fit snugly into their grid slots, making setup a breeze. What’s even more fun is the lucky element introduced when you draw a token from the bag—if it lands on your pawn’s space, you grab it instantly. If it’s close by, you’ll likely snatch it up before anyone else can!

(3) Clever Design - Easy To Retrieve Dislodged Ball & Restart A Turn

When the metal ball hits a wall, it’s smoothly dislodged and rolls effortlessly to one of the table’s corners—such a clever design that makes it easy to retrieve and quickly restart your turn! The four wizard pawns are vibrant, oversized, and delightfully chunky, making them extra fun for kids to move around. I also love that the bottoms are lined with velvety felt, allowing them to glide smoothly across the board.

(4) Awesome Components - Large Maze Surface & Great Quality

I love the large maze surface and the sturdy wooden die. The cardboard pieces and boards are high quality and well-punched. Plus, the black pouch to store everything is a nice touch. Overall, the components are fantastic!

Get It!, By Ari Games - REVIEW

Nature / Type:             Card Games

Rating:                        ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:    8 year-old ++

Who would love this:  Mathematics enthusiasts - young kids and adults!

2 compact card packs– Get it Gold and Get it White! Created by Ari Games in Melbourne, this educational math game features a deceptively simple concept that becomes surprisingly engaging. While it might look unassuming at first glance, it’s a game that captivates both kids and adults alike, offering a clever challenge that stimulates the mind. Big thanks to Divisible by Zero for providing a copy!

Why I love ❤️ this game:

(1) A Math Game For Creativity & Problem-Solving

I wasn’t sure how my 8-year-old would react—this isn’t a hilarious game with eye-catching characters or a thrilling tabletop game experience. Instead, it’s a brainteaser that sharpens quick thinking and math skills. To my surprise, the boy instantly loved it and kept asking to play! The rules are simple: players separate the target and number cards, then use basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to match the target number. For example, reaching a target of 56 could involve something as simple as 50 + 15 - 9, or something more complex like (15 + 10 + 20 + 5) + (3 x 2). While not all number cards are required, each can only be used once. The game encourages creativity, problem-solving, and developing math skills in an intriguing, fun way.

(2) Two Card Packs For Different Levels of Difficulty

The game comes with two card packs: the white pack (for ages 8 and up, with target numbers between 1 and 100) and the gold pack (for ages 10 and up, with targets between 100 and 1000). Get It! stands out for its simplicity and accessibility, making it perfect for players of all ages and abilities. To level the playing field, we can give more advanced players the gold targets and others the white targets.

(3) Different Variations To Spice Up The Gameplay

Play different variations to spice up the gameplay. In “Reverse Continuous”: Place a target card in the middle and deal two number cards to each player. Players use their cards to reach the target. If no one finds a solution, deal another number card to each player and repeat until someone solves it. The first player to call “GOT IT!” presents their solution. A single-player can also do Solitaire: deal 6 cards and solve each target card in turn from the deck. This is a cleverly-done educational game!

My Lil’ Everdell, By Starling Games - REVIEW

Nature / Type:             Board game

Rating:                        ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:     6 year-old ++

Who would love this:  Younger kids who love try out the thrill of strategy games!

Everdell is a delightful worker placement game by Starling Games - but, it’s also a little too complex for the kids. That’s where My Lil’ Everdell comes in—designed to capture the heartwarming cuteness of Everdell, but with just the right amount of depth for young players. A big thank you to Let's Play Games for providing this gem!

Why I love ❤️ it

(1) Gather Resources + Play/ Purchase Cards Strategically

The game is played over 4 rounds, with each round consisting of 3 turns per player. On each turn, players place a friend on one of 3 worker placement spots: large spots granting 1 resource (open to any number of friends), lucrative dice spots (first-come, first-serve), and red card spots that build into their personal tableau. After placing a friend, players can optionally purchase a card from the Meadow, which can be green (round start effects), tan (one-time bonuses), red (new worker placement), blue (triggered effects), or purple (end-game bonuses). Cards cost 1-5 resources like berries, sticks, and resin. Players can also complete parades to earn victory points, with the first player to finish a parade getting 6 points, the second 5, and so on. After four rounds, players tally points from cards and parade tokens, with the highest scorer winning.

(2) Simple Decision-Making Opportunities - Perfect For Younger Kids

The game offers plenty of opportunities for decision-making, encouraging kids to weigh their options carefully. Should we buy a card that costs fewer resources but is less impactful, or save up for a more powerful card later? The tactical choices keep the game engaging without overwhelming them, and the shifting dice each round add an extra layer of strategy.

(3) Solo Mode/ Expansion Pack/ Alternative Rules - Variations To Suit All Ages

The “Captain” and “Fort“ rules give younger players a helpful boost at the start by providing extra resources and bonus cards. There’s also a solo mode for solo play and a ”Kindergarten“ promo expansion that can be used with the original Everdell game. These additions make the game adaptable for different age groups and playstyles.

(4) Beautifully Illustrated Cards & Clever Resource Crates

The cards are beautifully illustrated with simple icons. I love the included resource crates, which add a tactile element to the game. The components are well-made, and the rulebook is easy to follow.

My First Mandarin Busy Book, By Mandarin Prodigies - REVIEW

Nature / Type:             Busy Book/ Learning Binder

Rating:                        ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:    5 year-old ++

Who would love this:  Parents looking for engaging Mandarin-learning activities for bilingual kids

“My First Mandarin Busy Book” by Mandarin Prodigies is designed to captivate young learners while introducing them to Mandarin in a fun way. Targeting families with a bilingual background, this book is a rare find in the Australian market.

Why I love ❤️ it:

(1) 15 Hands-On Activities In Simplified Mandarin

This busy book offers a rich variety of 15 hands-on activities in simplified Mandarin. The book covers a mix of engaging exercises, including topics like animals, shapes, numbers, and the first 20 Chinese characters. We enjoy sorting waste and matching items to recycling bins (e.g., banana peel 香蕉皮 to “green waste” 堆肥), learning about measure words (like 一片面包, “a slice of bread”), grouping types of vegetable based on whether it’s a root vegetables (such as 土豆 potato) or those that grow above soil (such as 番茄 tomatoes). I especially LOVE the emotions page, where children match cute emoji symbols to corresponding Mandarin words. The book features 136 small, movable cards for children to match with the correct words.

(2) Mandarin Words With English Translations

The book features Mandarin words alongside English translations. For example, on the body parts page, children match Mandarin words like 头 (“head”) and 手 (“hand”) to their English equivalents. The activities also include instructions in English, such as “match the vehicles to the correct places,” and shape-matching exercises where kids pair a shape like “hexagon” with its Mandarin equivalent 六边形. At the back of the book, a vocabulary list provides simplified Mandarin words, their English translations, and pinyin.

(3) Spiral Binding In A4 Size

The book is thoughtfully designed with a spiral binding, allowing it to lay flat for easy use and exploration. Its A4 size is perfect for little hands, making it portable for travel. The pages are thick, glossy, and laminated for durability, securely bound with a sturdy round binder.

(4) Reusable Busy Book - Pieces With Velcro Dots

The best feature of this Busy Book is its reusability. Each piece is equipped with Velcro dots, allowing children to detach and reattach them countless times. The set also includes Velcro stickers for parents to attach to the book and small cards, along with extra sheets of replaceable Velcro components for long-lasting use.

ORBITO, By FlexiQ Games - REVIEW

Nature / Type:             Tabletop game / Board game

Rating:                        ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Recommended age:     7 year-old ++

Who would love this:  Anyone who enjoys Connect Four (or any classic games) with a twist

ORBITO from FlexiQ Games takes the classic Connect-4 to electrifying heights. The marbles don’t just drop into place—they orbit across the board, forcing you to think ahead, outsmart your opponent, and set traps in ways you’ve never imagined. Thank you VR Distribution for this amazing game!

Why I love ❤️ it:

(1) Connect-Four Played On A Patented, Rotatable Board

8 black marbles. 8 white marbles. Two players. Four in a row. With a single press of a button, the battle of Orbito begins! Sleek and mesmerizing marbles take center stage, each one gliding around a patented board that’s anything but ordinary. The game board is split into two zones: the rotating outer edge, where 12 marbles shift in orbit, and the 4 dynamic squares at the core, constantly shifting and throwing your plans into disarray. Your goal? To line up four of your marbles in a row—whether vertically, horizontally, or diagonally—before your opponent does. Every time you press the Orbito button, the marbles shift one position on their orbit, turning the game into an ever-evolving puzzle of strategy, anticipation, and chaos.

(2) Sabotage Your Opponent's Strategy - Shift A Marble To An Adjacent Spot

It’s not just the shifting game board that keeps you on edge. On each turn, you have the power to sabotage your opponent’s strategy by shifting one of their marbles to an adjacent spot. Now, you’re not just thinking about where to place your own marbles; you’re also plotting where to disrupt your opponent’s next move!

(3) Push Button FIVE Times When It's A Stalemate

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Orbito throws in one more twist: if the board is full and it’s a stalemate, one player is granted the power to PUSH THE BUTTON FIVE TIMES, triggering a frenzy where every shift of the marbles could be the game-changer. The first player to line up four of their balls wins, but if it’s still anyone’s game after those five dramatic presses, it’s a draw! We love the element of thrilling unpredictability and the wild ride of suspense!

(4) Top-Notch & Sturdy Components

The components are top-notch. The sturdy plastic board is solid, while the marbles are beautifully crafted, weighty and smooth. Setting up the game is a breeze: simply lift the central knob, give it a slight twist to lock it in place, and you’re ready to dive into the action!
